  2. When purchasing from us you are voting with your dollars for a food system that prioritises sustainability over convenience. One of the beautiful but chaotic things about wild harvested game is the lack of predictability. We harvest to order, and if the moon is shining too bright or the rain is coming down too hard we may not be able to get into the wild and source product. But you have our promise - we will always endeavour to get your product to you as quickly as possible.

  3. Your order is packed into a recyclable cardboard box, with Woolpack liner to keep it cool in transit. The plastic component of the Woolpack liner can be recycled at any soft plastics dropoff. The wool component is made from waste wool from the wool industry, and can be home composted!

    We vacuum seal all items inside the box. This removes all the oxygen from contact with the meat and effectively puts the meat in an environment that doesn't break down. Vacuum sealing vastly improves the shelf-life of the meat. Vacuum sealed food will freeze better & avoids freezer burn.

  4. Frozen meat has a shelf life of up to 12 months. Once defrosted, each vacuum sealed item will last 10-14 days chilled in your fridge.

  5. One of the beautiful chaotic things about nature is variation. Industrialised agriculture has removed variation from our food - only ever delivering you the apples, bananas or steaks that look perfect, and sit within the same perfect spec. All the animals we harvest have lived a truly wild & free life. This means they have not been subject to exactly the same feeding programs, the same weather conditions or topography. They are not always the same age, or the same gender. We also value our products by their quality and taste, not just their size.

  6. We send all product frozen to guarantee food safety during transit. A common misconception is that the best cuts of meat are never frozen. In fact, freezing is common across the food industry and can also actually tenderise the meat by expanding the moisture within the cell walls. After thawing, this means the muscles become more tender. Plus you are able to extend the shelf life from just a fortnight fresh to up to 12 months frozen!

  7. Once defrosted, always let your meat breathe for an hour or so before cooking and come closer to room temperature. For inspiration, check out Our Recipes or Instagram.

    Don't be put off by a smell that often comes when the bag is first opened. This is caused by the meat sweating in the vacuum environment and is totally normal and quickly disappears when exposed again to oxygen. Also most discolouration will quickly come back to normal with red meats after some time in normal oxygen rich air. If your meat is not cryovaced take it out of the plastic bag when you get home and put it in your fridge on a plate or in a reusable container. This will stop the meat from sweating, prolonging its life in your fridge.
